Planning 10 - Mr. Berra: Day 17

Assignment

Connected with workplace safety is the rights and responsibilities of both you and your employer when you are working. Look at the website below and consider the expectations that you and your employer must follow.

As you read through the site, take down information on the following questions:

  1. What role does the employer have in keeping a safe workplace?
  2. What role does the worker (you) play in keeping himself/herself at work?
  3. What are the potential hazards at your place of work (if you do not have a job, talk about hazards at home, etc))?
  4. What must you do if you consider your workplace unsafe?

Click on the following link to watch the following Interactive Guide to Rights and Responsibilities.

Using the information you have compiled from the site, write a report answering the above questions. Your answers must be in a format that will inform other students about the rights and responsibilities of the employee and employer in the workplace. You should answer each bullet separately.

Assignment

One important skill all workers should be able to do is to look at a work site and identify whether or not a work site is safe or not. See it.
Questions to ask:

How many unsafe acts or
conditions are there?
What are the hazards?

Think it.
Questions to ask
:
Why is it a hazardous situation?
What could happen?
What is creating the hazard?
What injuries could occur?

Do it.
Questions to ask
:
What could be done to prevent an accident from happening?
What could minimize the risk?
What could be done to eliminate or minimize the hazard?
