Figure out what you are trying to ask and what the important parts of the question / statement are
Determine the key ideas and think about where you want to search, and what kind of information would be relevant.
Find information and take notes. Choose what information in your notes is most important.
Take notes on any information, sources and data that will help you answer your questions.
Fit your information together like a puzzle trying different ways until you are satisfied.
Ask yourself if you are done researching. Do you have enough detail to write up your research? Does it sufficiently answer your question / support your statement?
