This kit contains 6 levelled readers for early readers.

This lesson can be repeated for each book or done in stations with older buddy readers working with each group to read aloud.

Lesson Plan

Pre-Reading

  • Show the cover. What does it tell them?
  • Look at the picture glossary together. Read and discuss the words

Reading

  • Walk through the book and look at the photos. Let the class ask questions. Read out the photo labels. 
  • Read the book properly. 

Post-Reading

  • What kind of things did you learn? What did you already know? What do you want to know more about?

Extensions

  • Bring in, or have students bring in some examples to share. (Leaf and rock samples included in kit)
  • Go on a nature walk on the school ground and see what you can see (weather and season dependent)
