Where our food comes from may not seem important, but it can have some big consequences that we need to be aware of. Some questions to consider here are:
Where does your food come from? Is it a local Prince George farm? Somewhere in BC? Another Province? Or another country?
What are the benefits of buying local vs international?
Which stores and restaurants try to source close to home?
Does authenticity matter? French bread from France for example vs baked in Prince George in the style of France.
If you buy a watermelon for $4.00 in Prince George who is getting what amount of that money - Farmer, Freight, Store, Tax?
