STEP 1
Watch video #1 to gain a general knowledge about viruses.
STEP 2
Become an expert on one of the five curiosity questions to the right. You will work with an expert group to become knowledgeable on one topic. Pull together the key points and put together a single page handout.
STEP 3
Learning groups will be formed, consisting of one expert on each question. You will share your knowledge and explain the handout to teach your peers about the curiosity question your expert group researched.

Curiosity Questions - Puzzle Groups

  • Where did viruses come from? (Group 1)
  • Are viruses alive? (Group 2)
  • What is a virus made of? (Group 3)
  • How does a virus do its job so well? (Group 4)
  • How do we protect ourselves against viruses? (Group 5)

Day 1
Complete individual learning then teacher will assign you to an expert group and you will begin research 
Day 2
Work with expert group to complete research and design a handout to be emailed to teacher at end of class
Day 3
Form learning groups and share knowledge peers, project will be discussed and virus will be chosen
Day 4
Work on virus project two to four people (the larger the group the more elaborate the end product)
Day 5
Finish project research and design your product (will be given a weekend to complete)
Day 6
Learning celebration - share the best parts of your product with the class!
